It’s that time of year
again. The beginning of the year… a fresh start. Time to make those resolutions. If you’re like most, it’s the same old thing year after year. Lose weight, make more money, etc.
Let me fill you in on a little secret. Resolutions don’t work! Three weeks after you make them, chances are you are back into the old habits.
So this year, throw away the resolutions. Let’s do something different. Something that will work.
- Set Goals – Resolutions are like pie crust promises. Easily made, easily broken. (Thanks Mary Poppins for that line!) This year, create achievable goals. Large and small. What do you want to accomplish by Dec. 31, 2012? Break that down into smaller monthly and weekly goals. When you make goals into stair steps, eventually you reach that door filled with wonder.
- Make a plan - Ok so you have your goals written down, but how are you going to get there? You need a solid plan on how you are going to reach your goals. Start with the end in mind and work backwards. Utilize mind mapsand vision boards.
- Hire a coach- A good coach is there to help you reach your goals. There are coaches for just about everything. I personally have a coach for business, nutrition and body image. Those are my areas of focus this year. But there are spiritual coaches, creativity coaches and even coaches for coaches! Sure it’s an investment, but the end goals are worth it!
- Review and revise - I used to write down my resolutions, stick them in an envelope and forget them until the next year. Most of the time I’d forgotten what I had written aside from the usual lose weight, make money. You should be reviewing your goals at least once a month with your coach. Make sure you are on track and revise if necessary.
Follow this game plan and you are sure to make 2012 your most abundant and prosperous year ever!
Here’s to 2012!
